Some smoothies are sweet. This one isn’t so much. You’ve been warned 😆. This ginger green smoothie is a little spicy and a lot of nutritious. It’s a great option if you’re looking for something to give you a little kick in the morning or as a mid-afternoon snack.
No one ever said that smoothies are limited just to fruits. So if you’ve been a strictly fruit smoothie maker, maybe it’s time to switch things up and throw some veggies in your blender.
This ginger green smoothie features a combination of some super nutrient-dense green fruits and vegetables. Of course, you’ve got spinach in there. That’s what gives it the bright green color. But there’s also green apple and parsley to lend to the green hue.
We’re also going to through some carrot in there for a big boost of Vitamin A. Follow that up with the juice of a lemon for some immune-boosting Vitamin C. And, of course, let’s not forget the star of the show – fresh ginger.
Ginger is a powerful food. It has proven antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties. Ginger also has been shown to be a helpful fighter against nausea and may help fight muscle soreness. Needless to say, you should try to get a little ginger into your diet every now and then.
I find it helpful to chop up my fruits and vegetables before putting them in the blender. This is going to make the blending process way easier. If you have a high-speed blender, these ingredients should whip up in a breeze. If you have a conventional blender, you may want to chop your fruits and veggies up a little smaller.
Adding ice to this smoothie will give it a thicker consistency. If you want it thicker, add more ice. Maybe more liquid-y if your jam, less ice will do the trick.

Ginger Green Smoothie
- 1 green apple diced
- 1 teaspoon fresh ginger
- 1 carrot chopped
- 1 tablespoon fresh chopped parsley
- 1 cup spinach
- Juice of 1 lemon
- 1 cup ice
Put all of the ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth and creamy. Pour into glasses and serve.
