An Epic EPIC Bar Review (This Is Epic)
Meat as a snack? Who would have thought?
I was introduced to EPIC Bars at PaleoFX last year. My first thought:
Meat as a snack? Huh!
I had a taste of the bison at their show table and was impressed with the flavor. I figured I needed to review the bars. When I got home from the conference, I decided to look them up to check out the ingredients and nutritional information to see how they stacked up.
How Do EPIC Bars Stack Up Nutritionally?
The EPIC Bars company describes the bars like this:
The EPIC bar is a 100% grass fed animal based ...

There are a lot of cool Paleo-friendly products out there. But Dry Farm Wines was a new one for me - Paleo-friendly wine.

I, for one, did not know that this was a thing. But, as someone who enjoys a drink every now and then, I was pumped to learn about Dry Farm Wines.
Now, I know what people are going to say, so I want to go ahead and address it. Every time we talk about alcohol on this site, there’s the inevitable:
“Alcohol is not Paleo.”
“If you’re all about health, how can you recommend that people ...

LMNT Electrolytes Reviewed – Sugar Free Hydration
I'm going to tell you all about why I love LMNT electrolytes. But first, let me take you back a couple of decades...
I grew up as a sports-obsessed kid of the 90’s. That means that Gatorade was the drink of my childhood and teen years as most of my free hours were spent at various practices or sporting events. My go-to flavor was the light purple Frost flavor. I had to Google what it was called because it’s been so long since I’ve had it - Riptide Rush. I can still taste it when I think about it.

Ahh, nostalgia.
But after I Googled what that ...

We Tried Paleovalley. Here’s Our Thoughts.
The world of supplements is a big one. Being a nutrition site, we, of course, encourage our readers to get as many vitamins and minerals as you can through real foods.
That means eating a diet composed mostly of unprocessed foods in different forms - raw, cooked, boiled, steam, roasted, etc. Keep things varied. Keep your plate colorful - "Eat the rainbow!" as they say.
Why Supplement?
Supplements have their place though. Sometimes, we don't have the time to eat as much or as often as we should. Or maybe highly-nutritious foods aren't available where we live.
Nutrients in food can also vary greatly due in part to soil ...

Diabetic Kitchen Gourmet Chocolate Brownies
We all have those certain treats that take us straight back to childhood.
For me, it's a pan full of brownies.
Brownies were my family's go-to after-dinner dessert. Warm, fudgy, walnut-y brownies. And we'd accompany these delicious chocolate squares with a big glass of milk.
Honestly, my mouth still waters when I think about them.
But let's not get it twisted...these were not homemade brownies or my grandma's secret recipe. These were the Betty Crocker kind - straight from the box.
I honestly never looked at the ingredients when I was a kid. But I just did a quick Google search and this is what I found:
Sugar, Enriched ...

Pique Tea – A Review
Pique Tea - Our Thoughts
This is a blog post on tea. And I feel like I need to go ahead and get this off my chest...I’ve never quite considered myself a “tea” person. I like it well enough - but if I go to a coffee shop, 99% of the time I order coffee. And my shelves at home aren’t filled with endless varieties of teas. It’s just never something that I got really into.
Ok, now that I got that off my chest - and you understand my (somewhat) ambivalent nature towards tea - I’m excited to tell you that I’ve found a brand that might convert me.
The company is Pique Tea and they’re throwing a curveball in the traditional tea game. I’ve ...

The Instant Pot: The Appliance Your Kitchen Needs
I know I’m a little behind on this revelation, but I need to tell you something...the Instant Pot is a game-changer. And I want you to know about it.
Here’s a secret - I don’t get hyped about too many products out there. In general, I don’t need the newest or fanciest “things” in my kitchen to be happy. Give me a solid cast-iron skillet, a nice chef’s knife, and a cutting board that won’t fail me and I’m set. I take a certain amount of pride in my ability to stay pretty chill about my gadgets.
So already - the fact that I’m writing this is a big deal...because I feel like this review could get pretty gushy. But know that I have ...

Quest Bars Reviewed: Are They Any Good?
Quest Bars are probably one of the most recognizable and popular protein bars on the market. Known for their high protein content, they’re a favorite among athletes and people on the go. There are about a hundred different flavor options and they all sound like straight up dessert - chocolate chip cookie dough, mocha chocolate, and blueberry muffin just to name a few.
Quest Bars are not 100% Paleo
Let’s go ahead and get this out of the way though - Quest Bars use whey protein. Automatically, this means they’re not 100% Paleo-friendly. That being said, whey protein is definitely a gray area in the Paleo world - and most experts agree ...

Paleo Hair Care: Morrocco Method Reviewed
Morrocco Method - Paleo Friendly Hair Care
People are finally beginning to realize that the quality of the food we put IN our body has a tremendous impact on our long-term health. If you’re reading this blog, chances are you’re one of these people.
But more than ever, we’re figuring out that what we put ON our bodies is important too. Our skin is our largest organ, so it makes sense that we need to be just as cognizant of what we’re lathering on us.
Unfortunately, many of our favorite products are loaded down with chemicals that are endocrine-disruptors. This means that the ingredients that make up products like shampoo, make-up, ...
