October 8, 2014 By Joel Runyon 1 Comment

A recent episode on The Morning Stir on Good Morning America thrust paleo back into the limelight. But this time it wasn't about the paleo diet. It was about the paleo lifestyle. What Is The Paleo Lifestyle? While the paleo diet involves eating the way that cavemen ate, the paleo lifestyle means living the way that caveman lived. That means moving, sleeping, and exercising as our ancestors did before the invention of computers, shoes, and treadmills. This episode of The Morning Star follows the couple behind eatingEVOLVED, a primal dark chocolate company whose chocolate is to die for. The couple live a paleo lifestyle, ...

The Ultimate Guide To Standing Desks

August 24, 2014 By Justin Miller 2 Comments

In 2011 the New York Times published an article called Is Sitting a Lethal Activity? The article focuses on research conducted by James Levine of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Much of Levine’s research looks at why some people gain weight and others don’t. He and his colleagues asked a group of office workers who did not exercise much to follow a particular diet, consuming one thousand more calories than they normally consumed. They were also asked not to change their exercise habits during this time (1) What Levine and his team found was that even though participants were consuming the same ...

The Best Chipotle Paleo Hack – The Double Meat & Guac Bowl

August 10, 2014 By Joel Runyon 6 Comments

I love Chipotle. I really do. It's actually sort of a problem. I used to do the burritos. I slowly graduated to the burrito bowl to make my Chipotle habit "less bad." However, for the last six months, I've been using my favorite Chipotle hack to make Chipotle more paleo-friendly, to get more food, and to pay less. Here's What I Do I walk up to the bar. "What can I get you?" "I want two sides of steak (or other choice of meat) in a bowl." "That's it?" "Yes, and I'd like guac." "Guac is extra." "I know. That's okay." What they end up doing is scooping two sides of steak into a bowl. What most friendly Chipotle members ...

Paleo Experts On Staying Paleo While Eating Out

August 2, 2014 By Joel Runyon Leave a Comment

We asked our resident paleo experts for their tips on staying paleo when eating out. Here's what they said. From Justin Miller - Resident Nutrition Coach Tell the server you're on a special diet (gluten-free, no lactose, no peanuts, no soy, etc.) and ask how the food is prepared or if you're able to ask the chef yourself. Be nice about it.  If you eat out with friends, be the one to suggest where you go. Most people are so passive: "I don't know. Whatever you want. Whatever is good with me." Pick a place that you know fits your goals/diet. Go super plain if you have to. You can essentially hold almost everything in a ...
