With the advent of the agricultural revolution, grain-based products became a staple of our diets. Today, processed foods are readily available at low costs.
The average diet tends to be lacking in essential nutrients and wholesome foods. Studies have linked unhealthy diets with a variety of serious health conditions.
The Paleo diet is about eating foods that are natural and nutrient-rich. Rather than restricting calories, you will be focusing on the quality of the food you consume.
On the Paleo diet, anything that would not have been available 3 million years ago is off the table. That means you will be avoiding:
- All grain-based products
- Processed foods
- Beans and legumes
