These Mini Steak Bites make super cute snacks for a buffet. They’re about as healthy as you can get when it comes to finger food too because of all the protein they contain.
These little steak bites are a super versatile way to add a punch to “leftovers night” or to serve as fancy finger foods while entertaining. You’ll be blown away by the flavor in this simple meal, so hat tip to Ree Drummond – The Pioneer Woman – for the inspiration for this recipe.
Note: This recipe is primal not paleo. To make it paleo, use coconut oil instead of grass-fed butter or ghee.
Mini Steak Bites
Calories 335 kcal
- 1 lb Stew meat (pre-cut, or go fancy and grab pre-cut tips or sirloin)
- Sea salt and freshly ground pepper (to taste)
- 4 tbsp Grass fed butter (primal not paleo, use coconut oil instead to make it paleo)
If you’re working with a “budget” piece of meat, prepare it by removing fat and gristle and cutting it into 1-2 inch chunks.
Sprinkle the pieces with a tasty amount of sea salt and freshly cracked peppercorns. Roll them around a bit, so that you the meat is well coated.
Heat a skillet to high heat and melt 2 tbsp of butter. Watch and stir the butter in the pan until it becomes browned. Make note that this will be a touch smoky, so you might want to turn on the fan. It’s OK - it is supposed to be that way. We want the butter brown and the pan nice and hot.
Once the pan is sizzling, add the steak bites and cook for about 45 seconds on one side before flipping and cooking for another 45 seconds on the second side. Reduce the cooking time on the 2nd side if it takes you a good 30 seconds to flip all those little suckers.
Remove immediately from heat and place on a nice serving platter.
Add the remaining 2 tbsp of butter to the drippings in the pan and allow them to melt while being sure to pick up all the pan drippings.
Pour this “sauce” into a nice little bowl for fondue or just dump all the yummy goodness right on top of the steak bites.
Serve with toothpicks to turn the bites into finger food.
