If you’re looking to stay keto – it’s massively important make
The #1 place that most people fall out of ketosis is through their drink choices. While you can pretty safely drink coffee or tea (without sweeteners) on the keto diet, other drink mixes aren’t nearly as clear.
Many drink mixes claim to be keto, but contain ingredients that will secretly knock you out of ketosis.

The Best Hydration Keto Drink Mix – LMNT
We’ve talked about LMNT before, but they are hands-down – our go-to beverage drink mix when we’re trying to stay hydrated and keto at the same time.
A simple and straightforward electrolyte mix with no junk in it – it’s tasty, keto-friendly and comes in a bunch of flavors – that you might just love all of them.
That said – if we had to pick our top 3 flavors – it’d go something like this.
Our top 3 flavors
- Watermelon
- Raspberry
- Citrus
Watermelon is (by far) our favorite. You can drink it super concentrated in 6-8oz of water where it taste like a jolly rancher OR throw it in 64oz and have a nice watermelon hint in your water.
Raspberry and citrus are close second and third spots respectively, but if you want to wild – try mixing them together for something really great.
If you want a wildcard flavor, try chocolate salt and throw it in your coffee. You might be surprised to have a keto mocha on your hands.
You can try all LMNT’s flavors for free here – just pay shipping ($5).
You can also check out all the keto-ish friendly margaritas you can make with LMNT in our margarita corner here.
The Best Warm Keto Drink Mix – Bone Broth
If you’re looking for something a little warmer to the taste – you should check out bone broth.
Bone broth is high in the right types of fats and is incredibly satiating.
While it’s usually served as it’s own standalone broth – you can often mix bone broth with water or other keto items (We’ve even see people turn bone broth into bone broth popsicles) in order to have a healthy, refreshing beverages on hand that’s not going to effect your blood sugar OR knock you out of ketosis.
→ Try Kettle + Fire bone broth
The Best Sleep Keto Drink Mix – Impossible Sleep
If you’re looking for a keto drink mix that will help with sleep – the options are surprisingly slim. Most sleep mixes have 1 of 2 problems.
- The sleep drink comes packed with sugar. No bueno and a non-starter for keto.
- Other sleep supplements that are keto friendly – may not actually be good for you. They can be stuffed with over-dosed hormones (melatonin) or items that can interfere with your natural seratonin production (5-htp).
The only real compounds that are both keto friendly and safe that we recommend are magnesium and l-theanine.
Both are either natural minerals or compounds that you don’t typically get enough of in your day-to-day diet.
That’s where Impossible Sleep breaks the mold.
Impossible sleep is a transparent formula that tastes great, will guide you off to dreamland while not spiking your blood sugar and letting you stay in ketosis effortlessly for 8 hours during your sleep.

The Best Keto Drink Whey Protein Mix
Making sure you get enough protein and fat on a keto diet is essential. Without it -you’re going to have serious satiety issues and carb cravings may drive you to break ketosis.
That’s where a quality protein drink mix comes into play.
But again – like other drink mixes – common whey have a lot of additives or junk in it and many contain sugar or sucralose. All things you want to avoid when on keto.
Impossible Whey protein is pure grass-fed whey protein with no artificial additives or sweeteners. It only uses stevia – which does not have a blood sugar effect – and is sparingly used so you don’t get any weird after taste and your blood sugar is unaffected.

Non Keto Drink Mixes
Other popular drink mixes that claim to be keto – but will knock you straight out of ketosis include:
- Hydrant – super similar to LMNT but contains more sugar than they let on. Stay away if you’re trying to stay keto here.
- Liquid IV – has tons of sugar in it and despite what they tell you about “cellular transport technology” – sugar does not help you hydrate better (but will knock you out of ketosis).
Many of these brands spend tons of money on facebook ads and it’s common to see them in your instagram feed, but just because they are advertising themselves as healthy – does not necessarily mean they are. Be sure to be a smart consumer and always read the nutrition labels!
Other Keto Approved Drinks
Other keto approved drinks you may enjoy are:
- Tea
- Coffee (black)
- Cold brew
- Fruit-infused water
The main thing you’re looking for here is how the drink affects your blood sugar. If you have a glucose monitor and are paying attention to how foods impact you – you should be able to experiment with yourself on how different foods effect your ketosis state.
