If you love salmon, especially salmon on the grill, this Grilled Lemon Pepper Salmon recipe will hit the spot!
You could get fancy, or lazy, and buy a pre-made lemon pepper seasoning, but I prefer to do it myself. In this post, I’ll show you how to quickly and easily make your own lemon pepper seasoning with fresh lemon zest, so whether you consider yourself fancy or lazy, you can still be either one without much effort.
You see, I hate to do the dishes, so I just add the seasonings right onto my salmon instead of trying to mix them in a bowl first. I honestly just eyeball things until I think, “Yep, the fish looks seasoned!” Therefore, the quantities listed for the seasonings in this recipe are approximate, and it’s up to you whether you mix them together in a bowl first, or do it by sight.
So add the seasoning any way you prefer, pop the fish on the grill and in just a few minutes you will have a mouth watering salmon masterpiece.
These fish fillets taste great on the grill, but I suspect that baking them in an oven would also be just as delicious. Play around and see which version you like best!

Grilled Lemon Pepper Salmon
Grilled Lemon Pepper Salmon
Ingredients
- 4 Salmon fillets (de-boned and skinless (about 6 oz. each))
- 2 tbs Extra virgin olive oil
- 1 tbs Lemon zest (finely grated)
- 2 Garlic cloves (minced)
- 1 tsp Black pepper
- 1 tsp Salt
Instructions
-
Brush both sides of the salmon fillets with the olive oil. Placing the fillets on a sheet of wax paper can help this process.
-
Add the lemon zest to the fish. Yes, I just grate the lemon right over the top of the fillets. I’m wild and crazy like that.
-
Add the garlic, salt, and pepper to the fish. As mentioned in the introduction, if you prefer to mix the lemon zest, garlic, salt, and pepper together in a bowl, and then adding the seasoning the salmon, knock yourself out.
-
Place the fillets on a grill. Cook for 6-7 minutes per side, depending on the thickness of your fillets. Serve them with lemon wedges, and a mixed green salad or steamed broccoli.
