In 2011 the New York Times published an article called Is Sitting a Lethal Activity? The article focuses on research conducted by James Levine of the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota.
Much of Levine’s research looks at why some people gain weight and others don’t. He and his colleagues asked a group of office workers who did not exercise much to follow a particular diet, consuming one thousand more calories than they normally consumed.
