Tell the server you're on a special diet (gluten-free, no lactose, no peanuts, no soy, etc.) and ask how the food is prepared or if you're able to ask the chef yourself. Be nice about it.
If you eat out with friends, be the one to suggest where you go. Most people are so passive: "I don't know. Whatever you want. Whatever is good with me." Pick a place that you know fits your goals/diet.

The Paleo Guide To Fast Food
I want to start this post with a disclaimer:
On the whole, fast food is not paleo.
That said, sometimes there are no other options. You're dragged to your local takeaway by a friend or you find yourself stuck between places on your way to work. The best way to stay paleo is to plan ahead and to be prepared but there are times when life happens and you just have to deal with it. When that happens, follow our advice to make sure you pick the best options.
