Spiced Apple Pear Sauce

Pears give the usual applesauce a new dimension of flavor. Better than anything you’ll buy in the store, this is perfect for breakfast, as a side, or used in baked goods.

  • 3 large apples peeled and cored
  • 3 large pears peeled and cored
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 1/8 teaspoon fresh grated nutmeg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • Pinch of salt


  1. Put everything in your slow cooker and cook over low heat for 6-8 hours.
  2. Mash well or blend in a food processor or blender. Cool completely, and store in a jar in the fridge.
