Super Easy Crockpot Paleo Chili

July 22, 2013 By Vic Magary 7 Comments

crockpot paleo chili

This paleo chili stores great in the fridge and is perfect to package in lunch-sized containers and take to work.  And it really is super easy to make - brown the ground beef and throw everything else in the crockpot and then wait.  Yeah, the waiting part kind of sucks if you're a chili fan like myself... but it is definitely worth the wait! The best part? It's 100% paleo. Super Easy Crockpot Paleo Chili It’s easy as pie to actually make this paleo chili. 1 lb Ground beef1 lb Stew beef1 Onion ((chopped))4 cloves garlic ((minced))1 can Tomatoes ((diced))1 cup Beef broth3 tbs Chili powder1 tbs Italian seasoning1 tsp Red pepper ...

Barbecue Chicken Breasts

June 29, 2013 By Vic Magary 1 Comment

Barbecue sauce... so good but so bad.  There may be nothing better slathered over meat on the grill, but nearly any store bought variety will have high fructose corn syrup as a main ingredient.  And if not that dreaded substance, then some other form of sugar.  Now admittedly, this recipe does have some sugar in the form of honey and orange juice.  But you can reduce or eliminate the quantity of either to your personal preference.  Personally I think this barbecue sauce is a great middle ground between sweet deliciousness and not spiking your blood sugar like you just ate a pint of ice cream. Barbecue Chicken ...

Jumpin’ Jumbalaya

June 15, 2013 By Vic Magary Leave a Comment

I know, I know... Jumbalaya is usually served over rice.  If you want to make some cauliflower "rice" to go with this recipe, go for it.  Personally I just eat this stuff as-is in a bowl without rice or rice substitute.  Also, jumbalaya traditionally uses andouille sausage which is a spicy smoked sausage.  I've kept the andouille sausage in the recipe but I know that will bother some paleo purists due to the potential for unnatural ingredients (smoke flavoring, synthetic casing, etc.).  So if you have a source for all natural sausage that you prefer (U.S. Wellness Meats perhaps), feel free to make the ...

Grilled Asian Tuna is highly encourage when you’re undertaking a Paleo diet plan. Tunas are equally well-established as important source of omega-3. Omega-3 have lately been linked with all kinds of health benefits from warding off depression and cognitive decline to reducing inflammation and the risk of heart disease. If it fits into the budget, buy fresh salmon caught in the wild. Look for bright, firm, orange-pink flesh. When choosing a fresh tuna, choose those ...

Simple Spicy Sweet Potatoes

May 18, 2013 By Vic Magary Leave a Comment

Potatoes can be a controversial item in the Paleo diet community.  Obviously they grow naturally and have no other ingredients, but they also can be a bit high on the glycemic index and lead to the blood sugar spike that is typically avoided with the Paleo diet.  But of all potatoes, the sweet potato seems to get the green light more than others.  So if you include sweet potatoes within your Paleo food parameters, enjoy the simply spicy recipe below. Simple Spicy Sweet Potatoes 1 Sweet potato ((large, peeled and cubed))1 tbs Coconut oil1 tsp Cayenne pepper1/2 tsp Paprika1/4 tsp Black pepper Place peeled ...

Plum Pork Chops

May 11, 2013 By Vic Magary Leave a Comment

Pork chops + plum. Sounds great right? Well, it gets a little messy. I'll tell you right now, the plum will not chop up into pretty little pieces.  It's going to end up more like mashed plum and that's just fine.  Add more cinnamon if that flavor appeals to you - it can be a nice compliment to the sweetness of the plum and pineapple juice. Plum Pork Chops 4 Boneless pork chops1 Plum ((pitted and chopped))3 tbs Balsamic vinegar2 tbs Pineapple juice1 tbs olive oil1/2 Shallot ((minced))2 cloves garlic ((minced))1 tsp Cinnamon In a sauce pot, heat oil over high heat and add garlic, shallots, and plum. Saute ...

Great Goulash

May 11, 2013 By Vic Magary Leave a Comment

Goulash is a traditional Hungarian dish that is usually served with egg noodles.  But as much as we love eggs, we don't do noodles around here (so go with a veggie side instead).  Goulash also usually has a thicker texture than what this recipe will produce due to the exclusion of cornstarch or flour.  But don't worry – the flavor is still there!  If you can find Hungarian sweet paprika, be sure to use it but you can just use the stuff at your local grocery store too. Great Goulash 2 lbs Stew meat ((Go for either beef or buffalo. Hell use venison if you’re the huntin’ type.))1 yellow onion ((large, ...
